Product Description: Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 is beautiful in appearance; it has a nice shade of brown. It was firm yet pliant under the pressure of my fingers. The pre-draw was very easy and incredibly earthy.
The draw was perfect: smoke comes through easily, with just that bit of resistance to give it more impact. Unfortunately, there are also some downsides. I found the cigar to have a very uneven burn and a flaky ash that didn't really hold. A quick relight of the wrapper leaf kept the burn quite balanced, but it remained a problem from start to finish.
After lighting, the cigar experiences a violent taste explosion, and you have to wait a while for the true flavour to come through. After about 1/8 of the length, the cigar starts mellowing out and the taste of smoke vanishes into the first tones of earth. After that, the earthy aroma gets stronger and the early power fades, making place for a balanced and pleasant palette of flavours. After about 1/4 of the cigar, the earthy scents suddenly get a welcome companion: a magnificent aroma of humus, reminiscent of raw mushrooms, the smell of autumn leaves fermenting on moist soil and fresh spring rain. For the remaining part of the cigar, these aromas go through a constant, gentle evolution, without ever changing much.

Review Notes: This is a classic Cuban full of sweetness and spice. No shortage of dried fruit that lasts throughout. Easily one of the best Robustos definitely in the top 5.

Review Notes: Excellent cigar to smoke outside on the terrace with a good expresso. Yes they're mild but that doesn't mean they aren't tasty. Could be a bit more complex but still a very enoyable cigar, which always will have a spot in my humidor. Just make sure you don't smoke them too young as they won't taste very balanced yet, they really benefits from some aging time.

Review Notes: Anyone who says that this cigar isn't a nice smoke didn't get an actual Cuban. Good clean drag, light/medium flavor with a deceptively robust amount of kick. Can't really go all the way down on it though because it burns just a bit hot for my taste.

Review Notes: Unlit scent of sweet hay and tobacco. Opens up with sweet cream and hay. Second third is coffee with cream and sweetness. Solid core of cream sweetness and coffee throughout. Final third finishes with toast and continued coffee and cream. Only slight problem was first third had an uneven burn but fixed after one touch up. Great cigar. Overall medium in strength. This is a model Habano that is readily available.

Review Notes: My old standby Cuban, I've been smoking HDM Epi #2's for the last couple years. Consistently very good. Smooth, spicy & sweet (almost like honey) all at once. Has the expected Cubano taste.
